In our world where conflicts and wars continually challenge peace and stability, democracy stands as a beacon of hope and resilience. The principles of democracy—freedom, equality, and justice—are essential in fostering societies where diverse voices are heard and human rights are upheld. In these trying times, the importance of democracy cannot be ignored.
Daarvak Literature Department, a subdivision of Daarvak Verlag, invites submissions for a short story competition centered on the theme of democracy. We are seeking original, unpublished stories that explore the concept, challenges, and triumphs of democracy in various contexts. You are asked to consider children or young adults as your reading audience.
Submission Guidelines:
–Theme: Democracy
–Word Count: Max. 1500 words
-Format: Word doc. (12 pt Times New Roman, double-spaced)
–Languages: English, German, or French
–Stories will be accepted: 1 July – 1 September, 2025
–Age range: Children or teenagers
–Submission: Email your story as an attachment to dlid@daarvak.com with “For the Democracy Competition” in the subject line, please.
